Nice Guys.

I have heard of this being a growing epidemic but I never really knew how bad it was getting until recently. Did you know Nice Guys is actually a registered trademark now? The term is applied to a variety of men (often times self-identifying as "nerdy" or "geeky") who claim to be very kind individuals, but for some reason, are completely unable to navigate their way into a woman's pants...and then actually ask themselves why being so "nice" isn't working out for them.

Tycho and Gabe, the creators of Penny Arcade [ penny-arcade.com/2009/8/10/ ] recently had a discussion dealing with both sides of the argument of how the "Nice Guys" have begun fighting back. Needless to say, it has come to my attention that "Nice Guy" syndrome is no longer limited to that retarded show on MTV featuring that idiot who always wears Dr. Seuss hats. No, no. This once (supposedly) brief lapse in the rational thinking by certain members of our society has grown into an entire community of misogynists. Yes, we might as well call them by their name: Misogynists.

Now, I want to note that I'm not just brining this up simply in light of the events that recently occured at that one LA Fitness center. Not all of these "Nice Guys" are psychopaths with access to firearms, but I will not waiver on the fact that all of these people are human trash who have exchanged the excuse, "I don't understand women" with, "women are not human beings".

So let me make myself abundantly clear (in case I have already failed to do so): seduction cults are for shit heads who objectify women and treat them as if they do not have any thoughts or feelings. As a women, I deal with enough unwanted advances from people I have no interest in, just to be harassed later on for being a "bitch", or "stuck up", and oddly, sometimes even a "slut". I don't need entire "communities" of people who are being trained to believe that there is a guarenteed way into my pants and that if I don't comply, there is something wrong with me.

Perhaps I am irrationally angry at the thought that there are massive amounts of people in the world who buy into this gateway "drug" to rape, but I feel like being purposefully agressive from now on. I feel like, as a woman, and therefore being so openly threatened by this movement, I should do everything in my power to shut down, and cockblock as many of these pricks as possible.

Now, I know I should be asleep right now but I just couldn't help myself. I was doing my nightly cruise through CNN and saw this as one of the main headlines under the INTERNATIONAL EDITION: (CNN) — Californians overwhelmingly panned a handful of ballot measures Tuesday designed to pull the state from the edge of what lawmakers have called “financial Armageddon.”

Financial Armageddon? Really? Why is that CNN? Please explain!

Well, evidently, because the California voters said, "Fuck you" to the government, and voted down all of the measures in their expensive as hell special election (except for the last one stating that federal elects cannot receive pay raises in years of deficit).

According to CNN, the measures were meant to help balance California's gross debt, and I would be willing to believe that if I had never opened the voting pamphlet. However, some of you may recall that several of the measures were social measures. Meaning, they were intended to spend more money on special issues as opposed to balancing our debt! Now, I'm not an economist, but I think I can put two and two together and say that spending money we don't have on anything is going to increase the amount of money we already don't have.

Now, this brings me to my first real issue with this situation: CNN.

What the fuck CNN? Did you forget how to read? Did you forget how to report on an issue? There is an entire section of your article what exclaims "Oh noes America! Look at what those horrible Californians did! Now the Govenator is going to cut spending to schools! And Health! And let prisoners go!" Okay, so, if the only alternative to these measures is cutting back on things like health care and education, why were there measures to allot more spending on health care and education?! That makes no sense at all! Where were we getting this imaginary budget from a few hours ago, before the results were in?! I want that shit back. And a Lexus. Additionally, you made Californian citizens sound like lazy retards. Why would you even report on the turnout being low because voters were "fatigued" or "turned off by complex issues"? How about we're fucking sick and tired of the state jerking us around and spending all of our money on bullshit we never agreed to? No one wanted a special election when we all knew how it was going to turn out! This is underhanded, yellow journalism at it's best, and I honestly expected better of you, CNN.

Issue 2: What the fuck CNN? Did you really quote Lance Corcoran in your article about California's "Financial Armageddon"?

“The reality is that people don’t get to the California prison system by accident, and most of our offenders have nine felony convictions before they have ever seen the inside of the prison,” Corcoran said. “There is concern that we are just dumping people back into communities and those communities are going to be at risk.”

Oh why, yes. Yes, you did. The same Lance Corcoran who is part of the prison union (biased anyone?). And who is a raging alcoholic. And did I mention crazy?
I also love how they just inserted his fear mongering bile after their statement about how "non-violent", "non-serious", and "non-sex offenders" would be the ones released. This pretty much means minor drug offenders and illegal immigrants. Oh lord help us! I really don't think we'll survive this end of days.

Okay. I know people are probably getting tired of this subject but can someone explain something to me.

Because I know there really isn't a legal precedent, can someone explain the basis for voting for marriage for one group of people and not all groups of people? If you're going to let one type of marriage go to the vote shouldn't you make all marriages for all peoples go to votes?

Does anyone know if you're allowed to bring a calculator to the GRE?

I seriously can not find that info anywhere and I'm confused on how the math section varies in difficulty.
I got sent the little GRE study CD by IES but their problems are significantly easier than the ones in the kaplan book I bought.

We always hear about liberals shouting for an impeachment of Mr. Bush Jr. but seeing as he is rapidly becoming a small fry in the history of our Government's scams, what do we do about congress?

The Constitution of the United States reads:

Removing an official from office requires two steps: (1) a formal accusation, or impeachment, by the House of Representatives, and (2) a trial and conviction by the Senate. Impeachment requires a majority vote of the House; conviction is more difficult, requiring a two-thirds vote by the Senate. The vice president presides over the Senate proceedings in the case of all officials except the president, whose trial is presided over by the chief justice of the Supreme Court.

Oh my god. Does anyone else see a horrible hole in logic there? What do we do when our congressmen and women are the ones responsible for obstruction of justice and committing crimes against constituents? Is there seriously no force in our system that can hold our congress accountable for high crimes against the state? It is possible to recall senators and representatives before the end of their term but it requires a resolution by two thirds or the respective body of congress. This means, that in our constitution, the only course for removing a bad congress (considered in our constitution article I section 5 clause 2) is for congress to vote to remove members they feel deserve expulsion.

That is sinister.

If we "the people" hire them, why can't we "the people" fire them?

Around Tuesday I get an offer for my bed. These people seem like fairly responsible adults and assure me that there will not be any problems and they absolutely need a bed.
So I take the ad down and then wait for Saturday to roll around and for these people to pick it up.

1. They screw me in the morning on the time. I figure we're gonna have a 10 o'clock meeting time but they decide that because I am unwilling to be ready for a pick up at 7am (ON A SATURDAY) they wanna wait until 4pm. Fine. Whatever. I got up in any event because they didn't send this e-mail until like 9:30 the day of.

2. They're late but I get a phone call asking for measurements. I give it to them and they say they'll be over.

3. I get another phone call. The bed will not fit in their van. (NOTE: The craigslist listing CLEARLY stated "You must be able to transport this item because I have no means of doing so"). She assures me she will figure something out.

4. I get an e-mail a little bit later. Not even a damn phonecall, but an e-mail saying that they can't find a way to transport it and I will have to sell it to someone else.

Fuck irresponsible people.
You can all go to hell.
